5th Annual "Swing For Sophia"

We cannot begin to express our profound gratitude for your contributions to Swing for Sophia last summer. We still cannot believe the level of support we received from such dear family and friends. Our family initially thought that Swing for Sophia would be a small golf outing. However, as we rolled up our sleeves, it has evolved into something more considerable, and through your incredible generosity, we have raised over $250,000 for Faith’s Lodge, greatly exceeding our goals and expectations. Swing for Sophia is such a wonderful day and a true testament to the love and hope that surrounds us. Thank you!
We are excited to announce that the 5th Annual Swing for Sophia will take place on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Deer Run Golf Club. Our hope is to exceed what we raised the last 4 years for Faith’s Lodge, a place which continues to remain a very large part of our lives. We are so grateful for the relationships we have fostered and grown since our first visit in October 2009, just two months after Sophia passed away. These families have become touchstones for us as we evolve on our path of healing and hope. In September 2011 we were able to take our entire family up to the lodge for the first time and share in this special place that represents so much of what Sophia means to us. We truly wish every family who has lost an infant, child or has a child suffering from a terminal illness could experience the peace and serenity that encompasses Faith’s Lodge, which is why we are so excited about Swing for Sophia 2014. The proceeds from this event will ensure that more families can benefit from the healing that is found at Faith's Lodge.

Swing For Sophia 2010

When we lost our baby Sophia in July 2009, our journey towards healing began at Faith's Lodge. As a result, we felt compelled to not only honor our daughter in a special way, but to also support the very place that has helped us through the toughest time in our lives. We initially thought Swing for Sophia would be a small golf outing. However, as we rolled up our sleeves, it evolved into something more considerable. On July 30, 2010, more than 200 friends, family and Faith's Lodge supporters participated in golf, dinner and a silent auction at Deer Run in Victoria, MN. Through their incredible generosity, Swing For Sophia was able to raise $60,000, which greatly exceeded our goals and expectations. However, the most profound aspect for us was that Swing for Sophia occurred a few days after what would have been Sophia's first birthday. We could not have imagined a better way to celebrate and honor Sophia's life.

One of our favorite parts of the day was our balloon release. All of Sophia's aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, Great Grandma Lorraine and even some of her great aunts and uncles were there to share a special moment remembering her on her special day.
